Kaushik Orthopaedic is seeking a driven and detail-oriented R&D Engineer – New Product Development to support the design, development, and improvement of orthopaedic implants and instruments. This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer with strong technical fundamentals and a passion for innovation in medical device manufacturing.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and regulatory to translate ideas into globally compliant, high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new orthopaedic implants and instruments from concept to production
- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software
- Conduct feasibility studies, design validation, and prototype testing
- Support design optimization for manufacturability and cost efficiency
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams during trial runs and scale-up
- Maintain complete technical documentation as per regulatory and quality requirements
- Analyse existing products for improvement in performance, usability, and reliability
- Stay updated on global trends, materials, and technologies in orthopaedic devices
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in product design or R&D (medical devices preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks / AutoCAD or equivalent)
- Understanding of machining processes, materials, and tolerances
- Familiarity with medical device standards and quality systems is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
